A Prayer for Tuesday, July 22, 2014

First

O God,

When I see a hurting person,
let my first thought be of her.

When I see a poor person,
let my first thought be of him.

When I see a refugee person,
let my first thought be of her.

When I see a homeless person,
let my first thought be of him.

When I see a person using an EBT card,
let my first thought be of her.

When I see a person who is unkempt,
let my first thought be of him.

When I hear a person who is ignorant,
let my first thought be of her.

When I hear a person who is prejudiced,
let my first thought be of him.

And when my first thought is of them,
let it be a thought of kindness and compassion.

Amen.
