Cross
Jesus died instead of Barabbas, literally.
Simon of Cyrene carried the cross of Jesus, literally.
In different ways, both of them experienced grace.
O God,
Show us today what it means that
Jesus died on the cross for us
and that
we must take up our cross and follow him.
Lead us to celebrate the grace that
compelled Jesus to die for us
and that
compels us to die with him.
Amen.
